| In the late nineties, a group of musicians began to gather and play acoustic instruments on Saturday nights in Ken's kitchen - mostly old timey folk and bluegrass songs. In a casual conversation about the origins of these songs, the name of Robert Burns was mentioned. Later when Bob was at the library he read some of Burns' work and was so intrigued that he learned to play some of Burns' songs on the guitar. One song lead to another and in a year he had learned about 20 songs
Bob's wife Vanessa encouraged them to record some of the songs to make a CD. With the help of recording studio owner Mark Cooper Smith, who had been the Squalls drummer, Bob recorded some of the songs solo playing acoustic guitar in May of '03. On September 12, Bob Hay & the Jolly Beggars went to the studio and recorded eight songs. The recording was done live with no overdubs. Bob Hay played banjo and sang, accompanied by Bill David on mandolin, Ken Starratt on bass, Diana Torell on fiddle, and Dave Dowless on guitar. Brian Crum played brush percussion. On March 4, 2004, the CD Toils Obscure was released. I just love this group and the music they preform I can't seem to quit singing, this is a very unique and wonderful piece of work. DePoWeR2004 |

| Polemic from Athens Georgia is capable of stripping your guard down with simultaneous shock and ease. Music representing no limits, the band feverishly implodes into their own gritty corner of melody and stark imagination while pinpointing the bowels of reality. Polemic stares straight into what could possibly defy it, wreaking electric havoc on ears and minds alike. This band is of rare form. Purity in agony. This is Polemic |
| Call it rock with a hint of country. Call it funk with a taste of bluegrass. Throw in a bit of jazz and maybe some good old southern rock and roll. Originally formed in 1998 as a six piece, OverflO has its roots in the suburban Atlanta town of Lilburn, Georgia. When Matt Moore (lead vocals) and Charlie Ozburn (guitar/mandolin) searched for a beat to add to their acoustic show, they found not one but two with the combination of Matt Barnett and Mike Metzger on drums and percussion. After the additions of Ricky Alexander (lead guitar) and Trey Dunlap (bass), the band found that their acoustic act had been transformed into a full rock band. Keyboardist Dan Plevak joined a year later, and OverflO took on its current sound as a seven piece band. Soon after its formation, OverflO began playing in the vibrant music town of Athens, Georgia, broadening their audience and building up a substantial fan base. Now with several recordings under their belt, impressive live shows, and a dedicated following, OverflO continues to mesh its styles and influences, creating music whose appeal spans age groups. Although their style is not easily pigeonholed, the rhythm and spirit of the band converge to create a sound that is instantly recognizable, one that keeps OverflO fans moving from start to finish. Over 400 enthusiastic fans packed Athens Georgia Theater last month for the concert to celebrate the release of OverflOs latest recording. |

Danielle Tibedo and Cregan Montague
Danielle's edgy, driving guitar locomotion engages Cregan's tantalizing nontraditional fiddle, as the two women weave their "incredibly sweet and fine harmonies" (WMPG, Portland) into an alternative folk-rock style, which is attracting a passionate fan base of diverse ages and backgrounds. From Virginia, Australia, Texas, South Carolina, Indiana, Boston and Maine, Danielle and Cregan recently relocated to Athens, Georgia (performing throughout the states and beyond), both with a cat coincidentally named Maggee. Individually, Danielle and Cregan bring years of musical training and experience to this mutual labor of love. Danielle, born into a family of professional jazz musicians (Lovey Ann Bosteels), began writing songs with her guitar when she was 16. Before she picked up her first guitar, she had become a self-taught pianist and received intense education in jazz trumpet and musical theory. Danielle earned a BFA in sculpture from the Maine College of Art, Portland, in 1996, and continued on to Graduate Studies in multi-media performance art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The art world gave her the foundation for her spirituality, leading her straight to her voice, back to her guitar, back to her childhood filled with music, back to her inspirational sources. Cregan has played violin/fiddle since a young child, her blossoming talent taking her overseas to Ireland, England, France and Japan, where she shared stages, street corners and pub sessions with the likes of Martin Hayes and Ani Difranco. As a child, Cregan witnessed the passion that music can express through her personal connections with Pete Seeger, Raphael Rudd and Pete Townshend. While Cregan was attending Berklee College of Music, Boston, she joined forces with Danielle as Divine Maggees. The Maggees are as delightful to watch as they are to listen to, these ladies have it together and it shows the talent they share shines upon the faces of the audience mesmerized by their spirit as Danielle and Cregan's sweet melodies gently embrace our soul., wow!
